Self Indulgence

This weekend was really great. I don't know where to start...

On Saturday we got up early (for us) and drove an hour and a half north up to wonderfully smoggy Anaheim. The air quality was horrible - you couldn't see the mountains from the freeway. It was all worth it, however, when we got to Disneyland. We were pretty lucky to get there, too, because I ended up taking an exit from the freeway which Mapquest was unaware of...

So. We parked in Pumbaa, which is the farthest away lot. There is no tram to this lot. Ugh. This will come back to haunt us later in the evening.... All in all though, I had a really good time at Disneyland. The lines that were long we skipped past using the Fast Pass. This was a great idea by Disneyland - I was impressed by how much waiting you could avoid with these things. The only ride that was not open that I wanted to go on (well, besides the apparently deadly Roger Rabbit ride) was Space Mountain, but you can't have everything. Seems like Space Mountain is closed a lot.

We stayed at a hotel across the street from Knott's Berry Farms. It was an ok place, but there was definite room for improvement. The beds were not that great, and if we hadn't put one of the comforters up over the window the sun would have woken us up at 7 am.

Disney's California Adventure was really nice. We had advance tickets to get in before the park opened to the general public. I HIGHLY recommend the "It's tough to be a Bug" ride. Don't want to spoil anything, but it's very good. The Muppet 3D adventure is also a must see. I give it VERY high marks for their recreation of the theater from the muppet show, down to Waldorf and Astoria in their booth. You might have to see this one twice to catch it all.

Ok, I admit it. We left before we saw everything. My feet and calves were killing me from all of the standing / walking. Lise was in pretty bad shape too. We checked out all of the areas, but missed the big Imax presentation. It had a 100 minute wait when we went to check it out, and I didn't want to wait in a line that long. If you go to CA adventure, go first thing and get a Fast Pass for that ride. We got our passes at Noon, and they were for the 8:40 - 9:40 period. Ick.
